Robert and Virginia HeinleinMeisha Merlin Publishing, Inc has been chosen by the Robert A. and Virginia Heinlein Prize Trust and the Butler Library Foundation to publish The Virginia Edition: The Definitive Collection of Robert A. Heinlein.

The project will consist of forty-six titles spanning the entire writing career of Robert A. Heinlein. The Virginia Edition will contain all of Heinlein's novels and short stories; all of his non-fiction titles; several volumes of his letters and personal correspondence; and the vast majority of his interviews, social commentaries, speeches and articles.

Listed below are the first twelve titles of The Virginia Edition in order of publication:
I Will Fear No Evil
Time Enough For Love
Starship Troopers
For Us, the Living
Beyond This Horizon
Destination Moon
The Door Into Summer
Double Star
Past Through Tomorrow Vol. 1
Past Through Tomorrow Vol. 2
Stranger in a Strange Land
How to Be a Politician

As someone who's grumbled since his death that someone should be working on this, I'm glad to see it happening. Heinlein was one of the most influential philosophers of my youth, and his work did a lot to shape my view of the world. I knew he'd written a lot beyond the popular fiction I'd read, even though I had lost track of all the titles I'd seen. At 46 volumes, this is truly a great project.

Contributors to the project named after Robert's wife Virginia, who was responsible for it, include including Eleanor Wood (Robert Heinlein's agent), Art Dula (the literary executor of the Heinlein estate), and Bill Patterson (Heinlein scholar, organizer of The Archives).
